VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Seven people have been hospitalized after a deck collapsed in Virginia.

WAVY-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2sjJkub ) emergency crews responded Sunday evening to the deck collapsing at a home in Virginia Beach.

Officials say it was about an eight-foot drop from the second story deck and that 911 calls reported there were possibly 20 people on it at the time.

Virginia Beach emergency medical services division chief Bruce Nedelka says the seven transported victims had injuries that were, one with serious not life-threatening, three with serious not critical, and three with non-serious injuries. Others at the scene drove themselves to the hospital or declined treatment.

A neighbor says it was a graduation party, and that some were standing underneath the deck.

The Virginia Beach Fire Department is investigating what caused the collapse.
