WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Authorities have charged a 29-year-old North Carolina man with a fatal motel shooting.

The Winston-Salem Police Department said in a release that Javarius Ford was charged Tuesday with murder in the death of 26-year-old Apaulenal Areyano. Officers found Areyano lying on the floor of a motel room May 30. He’d been shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ford is also charged with burglary and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He is being held at the Forsyth County jail without bond.

It’s unknown if he has a lawyer.
