GRAY, Ky. — Kentucky State Police are hoping the public can help solve a cold case slaying from 1985.

Police said in a statement on Tuesday that they are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a female whose body was found in an old refrigerator at a rural dumpsite in Knox County. Police say the woman may have been trying to get a ride to North Carolina before she was killed.

According to information entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, she was between 25 and 35 years old, had red hair and hazel eyes and a scar on her abdomen. Officials say she also had two necklaces, a heart pendant and an eagle pendant.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 606-573-3131.
