In New York, he interned and also freelanced for the Daily News. He reported on crime in public housing, deteriorating conditions at homeless shelters and problems at Rikers Island, New York City’s main jail complex.

Izaguirre is a 2015 graduate of Brooklyn College in New York. He also received a master’s degree in 2016 from City University of New York’s School of Journalism.
