LAKE ARROWHEAD, Calif. — Authorities say a suspect facing arrest tried to elude deputies by jumping into a Southern California lake.

San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials say deputies served a search warrant at a home after learning that Christopher Wogen might be in possession of a stolen motorcycle.

Deputies seized motorcycle parts, drugs and drug paraphernalia, but Wogen was nowhere to be found.

The 28-year-old was located nearby and ran from deputies and jumped into Lake Arrowhead.

A sheriff’s statement says Wogen swam in circles until he tired. Eventually he was plucked from the water by lake patrol and arrested on suspicion of charges including possession of stolen property.

It wasn’t immediately known if he has an attorney.
