The National Weather Service is forecasting minor flooding of the East Fork White River at Rockford in northern Jackson County today and Friday.

At 8:45 a.m. today, the river was at 10.18 feet and forecast to rise to 12.3 feet by 8 a.m. Friday before falling back below 12 feet, which is flood stage, by Friday night.

The flooding is being created by heavy rain that fell in the area from midnight Wednesday to 6 a.m. today. The weather station at Brownstown Central High School recorded 2.29 inches of rain during that period.

At 12 feet, agriculture lands begin to flood in the county and some local roads are affected.
