JACKSON, Miss. — Authorities say they’ve arrested a man who was tied up and assaulted before he could rob an apartment.

WJTV-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2sePoBa ) 28-year-old Marcus Funchess was taken into custody Thursday and charged with aggravated assault and attempted robbery.

Jackson police Commander Tyree Jones says Funchess knocked on the door of an apartment and struck a man in the head with a gun several times. Jones says other people inside the apartment attacked the subject and tied him up until police arrived.

Funchess and the victim were taken to the hospital for treatment.

It’s unclear if Funchess has a lawyer.
