OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma City agency is investigating a petting zoo at a local mall where customers can pay to play with tiger cubs and other baby animals.

The Oklahoman (http://bit.ly/2s5rcTp ) reports the Neon Jungle petting zoo opened in March and is operated by Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park. The owner, Jeff Lowe, transports baby animals from a zoo in Wynnewood to Oklahoma City for daily exhibition.

Oklahoma City Animal Welfare Superintendent Jonathan Gary says a city ordinance prohibits exotic animals from being kept in city limits. He declined further comment, citing the ongoing investigation.

Lowe says Oklahoma City Animal Welfare officers recently inspected the business and told him he is operating within the law.

A property manager for the mall, Plaza Mayor at the Crossroads, declined to comment.
