RICHWOOD, La. — A Louisiana man is charged with shooting his son over his work performance.

The News Star reports ( ) 65-year-old Madison W. Goins was booked on Monday into Ouachita Correctional Center. Goins turned himself into the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office after deputies were dispatched to a hospital for a shooting victim.

An arrest report says deputies spoke to the victim, who said his father challenged him with a shotgun following an argument over work performance, and shot him in the shoulder. A witness then grabbed the gun and took the victim to the hospital.

Goins confirmed portions of the victim’s statement, but said that the victim grabbed the gun, which accidentally discharged as they both pulled on it.
