RALEIGH, N.C. — Police in North Carolina’s capital city have arrested a suspect in a shooting that killed one man and injured another person.

Raleigh police spokeswoman Laura Hourigan said in a news release Friday morning that 21-year-old Derrick Lamont Jones has been charged with murder and attempted first degree murder in the shooting. Jones is being held in the Wake County jail. It was not known if he has an attorney yet.

Hourigan said 26-year-old Floyd Lewright Smith Jr. died in the shooting Thursday afternoon.

The name of the other person who was shot has not been released. There was no word on the person’s condition.

There is no word on a motive in the shooting.
