PLAINFIELD, N.J. — A man who was among New Jersey’s 12 most wanted fugitives before he was captured in Guatemala last year has been indicted on murder charges.
Welder “Dario” Morente Dubon also faces two weapons charges and a hindering apprehension count in the indictment handed up by a Union County grand jury.
The charges against the 31-year-old former Plainfield resident stem from the 2007 beating death of Joseph Tremarco.
Authorities say the victim ran a scrap metal salvage business and argued with Dubon at a tire shop where Dubon worked. Dubon is accused of beating Tremarco with a blunt instrument and putting his body in a pickup truck he then parked on a street in neighboring North Plainfield.
Tremarco’s body was discovered the next day.
Dubon was captured last October. He was extradited to New Jersey earlier this year
