HOPKINTON, R.I. — Rhode Island State Police say a Providence woman is charged with driving under the influence after she drove the wrong way on Interstate 95 and crashed into a Jersey barrier.
Capt. Matthew Moynihan said several people had reported a car driving north in the southbound lanes in Hopkinton early Friday.
Police say troopers spotted the car driving the wrong way in a high-speed lane, where it went off the highway and hit the barrier before stopping.
Police say the driver, Natasha Bedgood wasn’t hurt.
Court records don’t list an attorney for Bedgood. The Providence Journal reports that the 40-year-old woman told the newspaper she had not been drinking.
