Three Jackson County residents were among the 210 students who received undergraduate degrees during Franklin College’s commencement ceremony May 20 in Spurlock Center Gymnasium.
Judge Tanya Walton Pratt, the first African-American federal judge in Indiana’s history, was the keynote speaker. She received an honorary doctorate of humane letters from the college.
Jackson County graduates and their parents and degrees are:
Caylie Guinn, daughter of John and Melissa Guinn of Seymour, received Bachelor of Arts degrees in French, English and creative writing.
Brett McCory, son of Marty and Stacey McCory of Vallonia, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in exercise science.
Michael Powell, son of Bryan and Maria Powell of Medora, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in exercise science. He was named a top 10 senior.
