The Friends and Neighbors Extension Homemakers Club of Jackson County met May 23 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour to tour the new rehabilitation facility.

Eleven members plus Doris Kovener met for the tour. Members present were Martha McIntire, Ruth Bateman, Carol Bobb, Rhonda Kidwell, Judy Carter, Louise Cox, Shirley Sears, Charlotte Lovegrove, Ruby Niccum, Jo Ann Davidson and Donna Patterson.

Natalie Harpe served a lunch of chicken salad on croissants, chips, salad, fruit and cookies.

The group watched a hospital foundation promotion about the hospital. They then toured the rehab center, which covers the third floor of the hospital. There are centers for wound care, physical therapists, speech therapists and several other rehab centers.

The new center has expanded the services available to Jackson County residents. They now serve about 110 people per day.

For the meeting, club members sang “Back Home Again in Indiana” and “Back Home Again in Jackson County.” Roll call was answered by the question, “Have you ever been to the Kentucky Derby?”

Members will be choosing someone to represent the club for the fair queen contest.

In June, the group was scheduled to meet at Big Lots for a trip to Scottsburg for lunch downtown and a visit to Goat Milk Stuff.

In July, club members will meet at the fair for a regular meeting.
