Braves’ Schroer, Fee invited to showcase

Two Jackson County girls basketball players have been invited to participate in the 2017 IBCA/IHSAA Underclass Showcase events set for July 12 at Ben Davis High School.

Brownstown Central sophomore Ashley Schroer and Seymour junior Makenna Fee made the list of 114 girls.

BCHS varsity girls head coach Karla Rieckers also will be on the coaching staff for the event.

Staged by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association with support from the IHSAA, the Underclass Showcase events are designed to give exposure to approximately 200 of the top basketball prospects (about 100 boys and about 100 girls) from across the state to colleges across the state and nation.

The boys showcase will be July 12. No players from Jackson County made the boys list.

The girls showcase will begin at 2 p.m. and will last until about 7:30.

The showcase events are NCAA certified for 2017. That means college coaches from all levels (NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and NJCAA) may attend to evaluate the participants.

The showcase events are open to the public.

Admission is $5 per person per day.

IBCA-member coaches will be admitted at no charge by showing their IBCA membership card.
