AURORA, Ill. — The Aurora Historical Society is offering tours of an 1857 home and other free festivities in celebration of the Fourth of July.
There’ll be games, a live band and a pie-eating contest Tuesday at the Tanner House. The grand home belonged to a prominent family before it was donated to the historical society in the 1930s. The home is on the National Register of Historic Places and features high ceilings and antique furnishings.
Aurora is Illinois’ second biggest city and located about 40 miles from Chicago.
