GLOCESTER, R.I. — A politically incorrect, satirical parade that has been a mainstay of northwestern Rhode Island’s Independence Day celebrations for nearly a century now faces an uncertain future.

The Ancients & Horribles Parade, held every Fourth of July in Glocester, face a shortage of volunteers for 2018 and parade committee chair Michael DeGrange says if more people don’t volunteer or donate, it may be cancelled.

The Providence Journal reports ( ) the parade’s take on the politics of the day reflects the independent political streak of the area, but it can be a hurdle to creating institutional support.

This year’s parade took on various national items, including a “fake news” float adorned with Twitter logos and an impersonator of White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer.
