WINTERS, Calif. — Authorities have ordered evacuations of homes on two roads after a grass fire along Highway 128 in Northern California quickly spread to 250 acres.

California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection says mandatory evacuations were issued Thursday for Positas and Pleasant View roads near Highway 21. An advisory evacuation was issued for Golden Bear Estates.

Cal Fire says more than 200 firefighting are battling the blaze, which began in the area of Pleasant View Road, three miles (4.8 kilometers) southwest of the town of Winters. Aiding them are 17 engines, five air tankers, two helicopters, four water tenders and four bulldozers.

The Sacramento Bee reports that the area along Highway 128 has experienced two large wildfires in the last two years.
