MURRYSVILLE, Pa. — A Colorado man has been ordered to serve 20 to 40 years in prison for shooting at police at a Pennsylvania gas station last year.

The Tribune-Review reports (http://bit.ly/2tVCFXB ) that 27-year-old Jesse Callender, of Minturn, Colorado, was sentenced Thursday after previously being convicted of charges including attempted homicide.

Prosecutors say two officers were called to a Murrysville gas station in April 2016 after the clerk reported that Callender had threatened him.

Police say Callender fired two shots at officers as they arrived and a third as he tried to retreat inside.

Officers returned fire, hitting him three times. The officers were not hurt.

Callender testified that police shot him first and he didn’t remember returning fire.

Callender’s attorney said it is clear that his client has mental health problems.
