ST. CLOUD, Fla. — A man who authorities say broke into a 70-year-old woman’s home and stabbed her several times has been arrested.

The Orlando Sentinel reports 29-year-old Hiram Ortiz was arrested Thursday and charged with attempted murder, armed burglary and aggravated battery on an elderly person. The identity of the woman has not been released. The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

St. Cloud police Sgt. Anthony Miller says after the stabbing, Ortiz fled the home. Police say evidence at the scene led them to Ortiz; however, they would not elaborate on the evidence.

Further details haven’t been released. It’s unclear if Ortiz has a lawyer.
