NATCHEZ, Miss. — A teen cyclist who was hit by a truck has been hospitalized with minor injuries in Mississippi.

The Natchez Democrat reports Natchez Interim Chief of Police Shawn T. King says the 15-year-old boy was struck Sunday afternoon on a frontage road while traveling northbound, after veering into the southbound lane. King says the 1999 GMC Sierra truck was attempting to pass the boy and another juvenile cyclist in the other lane at the time.

King says the boy was transported to the hospital with what seemed like non-life-threatening injuries that appeared to be road rash.

The accident is still under investigation. It’s unclear if any charges will be filed.
