State Road 258 down to single lane for bridge work

Indiana Department of Transportation’s contractor, Ragle Inc., began work today at the State Road 258 bridge over the East Fork White River near Seymour.

Repairs are being made prior to installation of a thin bridge deck overlay that will restore the driving surface and seal it from moisture intrusion and harmful ultraviolet rays.

This bridge preservation project 2.5 miles west of State Road 11 has restricted State Road 258 to a single lane. Temporary signals were set today at either end of the bridge to allow continuous one-direction-at-a-time traffic. This will allow work to proceed on half the structure at a time.

INDOT officials anticipate lane restrictions will continue for 30 days.

State Road 258 operations are part of a two-bridge $300,000 overlay project.  The Evansville contractor also is applying a 3/8-inch polymeric deck overlay atop the State Road 256 Muscatatuck River bridge at the Washington-Scott county line. Work there is ongoing.
