Esther Marie Peters, 93, of Vallonia died Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown.

Born Sept. 28, 1923, in Seymour, she was the daughter of George W. and Emilie Buse Droege, both of whom preceded her in death. On May 28, 1949, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, she married Herschel J. Peters, who preceded her in death July 11, 1995.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vallonia. She had worked at Seymour Manufacturing Co. and then in 1951, she started working at Marion Kay Spices until she retired in February 2012.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Verna Pruess Droege of New Albany; three nieces, Renata (David) Lewis of Charlestown, Carolyn (Edward) Mayfield of Corydon and Phyllis (Delmar) Ellis of Fairmont, Minnesota; three great-nieces, Adrienna (Jeffery) Hester, Naomi (Brad) Leeman and Amelia (William) Stohr; three great-nephews, Joshua Garber and Jonathan and Jacob Ellis; a godson, Loren Rueter; and close friends, David and Barb VanAntwerp and family.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Alice and Margaret Droege, and a brother, Wilfred Droege.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Jordan McKinley officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
