CARMEL, Ind. — A suburban Indianapolis office building was evacuated and several people taken to hospitals after smelling a bad odor.
Carmel Fire Department spokesman Tim Griffin says crews didn’t detect anything hazardous in the building along U.S. 31 after the odor was reported about 11 a.m. Thursday.
Griffin says about a dozen people were suffering from flu-like symptoms when they were taken to hospitals but all were alert. Some others were treated at the scene.
He says about 40 people were in a conference room when they first noticed the odor. The cause of the odor wasn’t immediately determined.
People were allowed to return to the building after about two hours.
