Medora plans for upcoming school year

Medora Community School Corp. recently released information for the 2017-18 school year.

Parents can begin registering returning students online July 24. That can be done at medora.k12.in.us and clicking on “Harmony Family Access” under the “Parents” tab. Anyone who needs computer access to register may go to the school’s computer lab from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 4.

New students may register from noon to 7 p.m. Aug. 3 at the school, 82 S. George St.

Textbook rental costs are $68.67, kindergarten; $97.62, first grade; $92.04, second grade; $78.30, third grade; $56.75, fourth grade; $49.67, fifth grade; and $73.91, sixth grade. Grades 7 through 12 will be charged a per book rate of 25 percent of the original cost of the book and 100 percent of the cost for consumable workbooks. A small fee will be charged for student handbooks. Additional shipping charges may be added.

Breakfast and lunch prices will remain the same except for a 10-cent increase in student lunches, making them $1.90. The breakfast prices are $1.90, adults; $1, students; 30 cents, student reduced; 45 cents, extra milk; and 25 cents, extra juice. The other lunch prices are $2.45, adults; 40 cents, student reduced; 45 cents, extra milk; and 25 cents, extra juice.

Sporting event admission prices also will remain the same. Medora students will have free admission to all home games by showing their student identification at the door. For others, junior varsity and varsity volleyball and boys and girls basketball will be $5. If it’s only one team, admission will be $4. Boys and girls junior high and elementary volleyball and basketball games also will be $4.

Season passes will be available for $25, JV and varsity boys basketball only; $75, all sports family pass; and $50, all sports individual pass.

The first day of school for teachers is Aug. 9, and students will start Aug. 10.
