LITCHFIELD, N.H. — Police in New Hampshire say one person was killed and another hospitalized following a household carbon monoxide leak.

Emergency crews responded to a welfare check at a Litchfield home around 6 p.m. Wednesday. The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office says first responders found a deceased man and an unresponsive woman in the home.

Authorities say there were elevated levels of carbon monoxide in the home.

The woman has been hospitalized for treatment.

Officials are investigating the cause of the carbon monoxide leak.
