SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Police say they’re investigating the fatal shooting of a teenage boy who was gunned down on a Syracuse street.

Officials say officers responded around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday to reports of gunshots at an intersection in a neighborhood on the city’s south side. When police arrived at the scene they found a male teenager suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he died from his injuries a short time later.

Police on Thursday morning identified the victim as 15-year-old Akil Williams.
