SALT LAKE CITY — Utah police are searching for a man who tried to drag a woman into his truck after she stopped to help him on the side of the road.

Utah Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Marissa Cote says the man’s pickup truck was parked on the side of Interstate 80 in Parleys Canyon near Salt Lake City Wednesday night.

Cote says the woman pulled over to help the man but he violently assaulted her and tried to pull her into his truck before she escaped.

Investigators say the man was in his 20s or 30s and wore Wrangler jeans, a belt, a cowboy hat and black t-shirt. He was driving an older model brown truck from the 1970s or 1980s. The truck has a large dent between the back right wheel and bumper and has small, undersized wheels.
