PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia police say a toddler was fighting for his life after he fell into the Schuylkill (SKOOL’-kil) River and was found about a half hour later.

Police didn’t immediately release the name of the boy, whose father jumped in after the boy but was unable to immediately find the toddler in water.

Police say the incident happened about noon in an area of north Philadelphia known as Boathouse Row. Police say the boy simply fell off the edge of a dock.

The boy was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
