ST. HELENA ISLAND, S.C. — Deputies in South Carolina are trying to figure out how a truck ended up in a marsh, and what happened to its driver.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports that Beaufort County deputies responded Saturday morning to a report of a vehicle in the marsh near St. Helena. Capt. Bob Bromage says nothing was inside the truck, and authorities are working to find out who owns it.

Bromage says it appears the truck landed in the marsh at some point during the night, and it floated out when the tides receded. Authorities planned to tow the truck from the marsh.
