ST. CLOUD, Minn. — The Twins Community Fund has given the Sartell Baseball Association $10,000 for upgrades to Champion Field in Sartell.

KNSI-AM reports (http://bit.ly/2tuYx7C) that the money will go toward renovating the infield playing surface. Jason Mathiasen of the baseball association says he hopes to raise more than $500,000 for upgrades including new fencing and lights.

Stephanie Johnson is senior manager of community relations for the Twins. Johnson says that youth baseball and softball are important, adding that baseball fields serve as community centers for many places.
