Three motorists including two from Seymour were hospitalized Sunday evening after they were hurt in a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. 31 northeast of the city.

Jessica Tanner, 22, and Phillip Fields, 28, of Seymour both were treated at the scene of the wreck at County Road 700N by Jackson County Emergency Medical Services personnel and taken to Schneck Medical Center, according to Jackson County Officer Rick Meyer.

Tanner complained of back and neck pain, while Fields complained of head pain after the wreck, reported at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The third motorist, 22-year-old Christopher Henson of Paris Crossing, declined treatment at the scene for cuts on his head and arms but was later taken to Schneck by family, Meyer said.

Meyer said the wreck occurred as Henson traveled west on County Road 700N and failed to stop at the U.S. 31 intersection. His 1998 Honda Accord hit the 2006 Toyota Tanner was driving north on U.S. 31.

Henson’s vehicle then left the road while Tanner’s wound up stopped in the road. The airbags on both vehicles deployed, Meyer said.

Henson was cited at the scene for disregarding a stop sign, Meyer said.

County Reserve Officer Eric Browalski along with troopers with the Indiana State Police assisted with the wreck investigation, and Hampton’s Towing & Auto Repair towed both vehicles from the scene.
