Archery team heading to Worlds

The Seymour Archery team will compete in the The National Archery in the Schools Program’s World Tournament in Orlando, Florida, later this week.

This year’s event will be hosted at the Orange County Convention Center, with 3,900 archers from around the world set to compete.

There are 248 schools represented at Worlds.

Seymour High School, which will attend for the first time in school history, will bring 24 archers to the range.

“The World team is made up of archers from both our ‘A’ team and ‘B’ team this year,” Seymour coach Jill Purkhister said. “Cost played into who was able to go and that changed the faces on our team.

I’m excited to see some of our archers compete that haven’t competed on the big stage yet. We still hope to have a strong showing but this venue is new to everyone.”

Seymour is slated to shoot at 10:30 a.m. Friday.
