4-H livestock auction results announced

The 203 animals sold during the annual 4-H livestock auction Saturday afternoon at the Jackson County Fair grossed $233,580.

The 106 swine sold for $88,900 or $838.68 a head; 32 dairy beef sold for $64,420 or $2,013.13 a head; 20 beef cattle sold for $46,800 or $2,340 a head; 17 sheep brought in $14,610 or $859.41 a head; and the 28 boer goats went for $18,850 or $673.21 a head.

The 193 animals that sold during the 2016 auction went for $212,775. The 221 animals that sold during the 2015 auction went for $253,425. In 2014, the 212 animals sold earned $249,100. And in 2013, 225 went to auction and sold for $241,700.
