SEYMOUR, INDIANA

Mrs. Helen Marie Treadway, 87, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

She was born July 29, 1930, to James Edward ‘Ed’ Hirtzel and Frances (Cottingham) Hirtzel. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella.

After high school, she worked for Gerwin Shoe Factory, GC Murphy, and JCPenney before retiring from the Tribune after several years of service. She enjoyed canning food from her garden, square dancing, playing cards and games, reading, crocheting, and travelling to Pigeon Forge. She married Homer Treadway on May 15, 1948, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on July 10, 2016.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Barry) Melloncamp, Laverne (Ron) Carr and Brad (Susan) Treadway; six grandchildren, Kristie (Ed) Farmer, Evan Melloncamp, Lauren (Andrew) Keller, Clayton Carr, AnDrew Treadway and Morgan (Andy) Simon; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Carson, Reece and Penelope; and two sisters, Judith Gagen and Janie Richart.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Marguerite L. Wehmiller.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church on Friday, August 4 at 10 am with Father Dan Staublin officiating assisted by Deacon Mike East. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Thursday, August 3 from 4-8 pm and at St. Ambrose Catholic Church on Friday after 9 am until time of mass. A Rosary Service will be conducted at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Thursday at 3:45 pm.
