PEORIA, IL
John Charles Brock, 54, of Peoria died Friday, July 28, 2017, in Peoria, IL.
Born December 12, 1962, in Seymour, a son of Hiram and Lindia (Murphy) Brock, he married Angela K. Garrett on September 16, 2000, in Eureka, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Lindia Brock of Crothersville, IN; two sisters, Rhonda Hunsucker of Seymour, IN, and Leilani Looney of Fort Wayne, IN; three sons, Joseph Brock of Brussels, Belgium, Matthew Brock of North Aurora, IL, and Garrett Brock of Peoria IL; and two daughters, Elissa Brock of North Aurora, IL, and Ellery Brock of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his father.
John earned his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Evansville in 1985, and his Masters in Human Resources and Industrial Relations in 1994.
John spent his career in human resources working at Elkay Manufacturing in Oak Brook, IL (1988 to 1996), Revell-Monogram in Morton Grove, IL (1996 to 1998) as Director of Human Resources, and Morton Industrial Group in Morton, IL (1998 to 2008), also as Director of Human Resources. In 2008, he joined Archers Daniels Midland (ADM) in Peoria, IL, as Human Resources Manager. While at ADM, John was instrumental in initiating many employee and community activities such United Way, Easter Seals, Living Land and Waters, Junior Achievement and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
John was devoted to his family. In his spare time, John enjoyed relaxing with family and friends at his vacation home up north. John loved fishing, hunting, eating out and entertaining family and friends. John never knew a stranger. He took special pride in his children and loved each of them dearly. He was a loving husband, father and friend who will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 3, at Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. The Rev. Dr. Ritch Boerckel will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, and for an hour before the funeral services. Burial will be in Olio Cemetery in Eureka. Luncheon to follow at Bethany Baptist Church in Edwards, IL. There will also be a memorial service in Crothersville, IN, on Saturday, August 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 305 E. Howard St.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The John Brock Memorial College Fund, established for his school age children, Ellery and Garrett.
