GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Police have accused a North Carolina teenager of hitting a man with her truck and driving away from the scene.

The Goldsboro News-Argus reports Goldsboro police said 18-year-old Amber Caitlyn Toy of LaGrange is charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and felony hit and run.

According to police, Toy hit the 24-year-old man as he rode his bicycle near a middle school on Thursday. Investigators said people who saw the hit-and-run reported what they saw to police, then followed the driver and reported her location as she attempted to leave the scene.

The unidentified 24-year-old man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Toy is in the county jail without bond. It’s not known if she has an attorney.
