TARENTUM, Pa. — Authorities say three people were injured and at least one taken to a hospital as a large tire fire burned at a Pennsylvania auto salvage yard.

Allegheny County dispatchers said multiple fire departments responded to the blaze reported shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday at Hloznik Auto Salvage in Frazer Township.

Dispatchers said the initial call reported hundreds of tires on fire and billowing smoke that could be seen for miles.

There was no immediate word on the severity of injuries, and firefighters were still working on trying to put out the blaze.
