CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Six people have pleaded guilty to trespassing charges for staging a June sit-in at Republican Sen. Shelley Moore Capito’s office to protest efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports the six defendants were all ordered to pay $162 in fines and court costs during their appearance Wednesday in Charleston Municipal Court.
Each of the defendants issued statements to Judge Anne B. Charnock before their pleas were accepted. They used their statements as a forum to air their grievances against Capito for her vote in favor of the failed effort to repeal the law also known as Obamacare.
A spokeswoman from Capito’s office declined to comment.
