ORRVILLE, Ala. — Authorities say a dispute over a dog in Alabama has ended with one man shot and another man at large.

WAKA-TV reports that the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office says Jessie Cater confronted his 18-year-old neighbor, Jared Tower, after Cater’s dog was taken out of his yard Monday. Sheriff’s office Investigator Mike Granthum says Tower started firing at Cater, who returned fire before returning home, but Tower followed Cater back to his residence and opened fire with a shotgun.

Granthum says Tower’s whereabouts are unknown.

There was no word on Cater’s condition or the fate of the dog.
