A seminar entitled “As We Begin to Age: What You Need to Know Now” will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 17 in the Schneck Auditorium at Schneck Medical Center, 411 W. Tipton St., Seymour.

Attorney Lora Mount of Voelz, Reed, & Mount will speak on planning for your financial future, including what you need to know about the Medicaid program, power of attorney, living wills, Veterans Affairs benefits, estate planning and more.

Though it’s often hard to think about, as people and their loved ones age, they sometimes lose the ability to manage their own money and property, according to a news release from the hospital. People often think about their financial ability, like the ability to drive, as an important measure of their independence, but planning ahead may actually help you stay in control.
