John A. “Bud” Gray, 67, of Seymour, IN, passed away at Schneck Medical Center on Monday, August 14, 2017. John was born July 6, 1950 in Seymour, the son of John R. and Alberta Faye (Hollowell) Gray.

He graduated from Seymour High School in 1968. Bud married Velma Jane Hogg on June 8, 1973 in Seymour. She died in 1995. Bud worked for Nichols Sales and Service for 6 years and then went to Cummins Engine Company where he worked as a diesel mechanic in research and development for the last 40 years.

Bud was an Eagle Scout, order of the Arrow, Charter member of Seymour Area Cruisers, ABATE of Indiana, NRA and the Diesel Workers Union. He enjoyed many hobbies that included working with various ASA Stock Car racing teams, Seymour Train Club, Ford Tractor Restoration Association and Reddington Rear Wheelers. He really enjoyed his Shetland Sheep Dogs, Hotrods, Harleys and Cushmans.

Bud is survived by his sister, Jean (Jim) Back and brother, Tom (Diane) Gray.

His parents, wife and infant brother, Jack preceded him in death.

A family/friends gathering will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the FOP #108 Lodge in Seymour. Bud’s cremation rites have been accorded.
