Volunteers needed for brick plant cleanup

Volunteers are needed for a cleanup event at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Medora Brick Plant off West County Road 425S southwest of Medora.

Grounds cleanup will be the primary focus. Anyone with yard cleanup equipment, including mowers and weed eaters, may bring it to help that day.

T-shirts are available for sale at the Jackson County Visitor Center, State Bank of Medora and Medora Kwik Stop.

Several work days have been conducted at the former brick plant site since June 2016. A feasibility study is being performed to help determine what kind of potential uses might be found for the 6-acre property. Indiana Landmarks, a statewide organization that focuses on preserving historical properties, is assisting with those efforts.

Volunteers also are being accepted to serve on the Medora Brick Plant and Historical Sites committee.
