Drug bust nets 20

A Jackson County man along with 19 other southern Indiana residents were arrested Thursday morning as the result of drug investigations by state, federal and area law enforcement agencies.

Jonathan Chilton, 32, of Crothersville, faces two counts of dealing in methamphetamine, two counts of possession of methamphetamine and one count each of dealing in heroin and possession of heroin, according to a news release from Sgt. Jerry Goodin.

Goodin, public information officer for the Indiana State Police Sellersburg Post, said the arrest of Chilton and 19 others from Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Jennings, Scott and Washington counties were part of an investigation dubbed “Operation Total Eclipse.”

Early Thursday morning, troopers, agents with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and officers with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and Salem Police Department met at the Sellersburg Post before going out to make the arrests.

During one of the arrests in Lexington in Scott County, troopers seized more than 100 grams of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of more than $10,000, Goodin said.

Chilton was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 10:06 a.m. Thursday and was being held Friday without bond, pending his initial court hearing.
