Norman Glen Huffman, 84, of New Port Richey, FL passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Trinity Hospital in Florida.

Born in Sparksville, IN, on May 28, 1933, he was the son of Elvin Lewis Huffman and Kathleen Allman Huffman, both of whom preceded him in death.

Norm graduated from Medora High School in 1951 and worked on construction projects before joining the army in 1953. He was deployed to Zweibrucken, Germany for two years. On June 19, 1954, he married Barbara Jean Brown. They were married for 25 years and remained close friends for life.

Upon leaving military service, Norm attended Indiana University. After graduating, he became an auditor with Texas Gas in Owensboro, KY and then with General Motors in Kokomo, IN. He later accepted a management position with White Motor Company in Cleveland, OH before completing his employment career as vice president of finance with Chromalloy Corporation in Chicago, IL. Upon retirement, he moved to Florida.

Norm enjoyed sports immensely. He played basketball with the MHS basketball team that won the sectional in 1949 for the only time in history. Upon graduation, he played AAU basketball with the 1957 Marion Kay team that won the state championship and represented Indiana at the national tourney in Denver. He was an avid fan of IU sports. His hobbies included watching the Tampa Bay Rays, reading, playing computer games, golfing, and fishing.

Norm was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Kay Huffman, and a brother, Monte Lewis (Jane) Huffman. Survivors include a daughter, Ramona Lee Huffman, and two brothers, Donald Keith (Janet Shafer) Huffman and Jeffrey Alan (Brenda) Huffman.

A celebration of life will be conducted in Indiana at a later date.

Contributions in memory of Norm may be made to Medora Christian Church or to Proctor Cemetery.
