PORTLAND, Maine — The family of Maine state Rep. Gina Mason says that she has died at age 57.

Family members and the House Republican office said Wednesday that Mason died Tuesday night. She was a first-term lawmaker and mother of Republican Senate Majority Leader Garrett Mason.

Her service as a public official included the Lisbon Town Council. She also served on the Legislature’s Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee.

Garrett Mason postponed the announcement of his run for governor, which he planned for Wednesday in Lewiston. It is unclear when the event will be rescheduled.
