FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Detectives in North Carolina have charged a man in the stabbing death of a woman at a home.

The Fayetteville Police Department said in a news release that 52-year-old Fletcher Odell Johnson Jr. was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of 36-year-old Florinez Torres Lopez.

According to police, officers responding to a 911 call of an assault at a home found Lopez severely injured. She was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where she died.

Johnson is being held in the Cumberland County jail without bond. It’s not known if he has an attorney.

Police said an investigation into the incident is continuing.
