Braves edge Pirates

CHARLESTOWN

Brownstown Central defeated Charlestown 3-2 to earn a Mid-Southern Conference victory Monday.

At No. 1 singles, the Braves’ Ethan Carlin defeated Steven Delany 7-6 (5), 5-7, 6-3 while Adam Pottschmidt topped Alex Siper 6-7 (7), 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.

In No. 1 doubles play, Brownstown’s Jackson Lahrman and Gunnar Zickler came away with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Aaron Meyer and Eric Wiggington.

The Braves (10-5, 5-3 MSC) will host Austin on Monday.

Braves, Tigers run at Crawford County

MARENGO

Brownstown Central and Crothersville ran in the Crawford County Invitational Saturday.

Neither school scored as a team. Crothersville had four runners and one of Brownstown Central’s participants lost a shoe tag, giving the Braves just four times.

Jasper won with 128 points, Eastern was second at 153 and Edgewood finished third with 218.

Edgewood’s AUstin Haskett was the winner of 278 runners, timing 15:52.

Brownstown’s runners included Trey Hackman (84th, 19:49), Mason Kellogg (171st, 21:32), Sean Tharp (182nd, 21:45) and Andrew Wheeles (219th, 22:56).

Crothersville was represented by Lane Wienhorst (42nd, 18:45), David Rose (91st, 19:59), Cable Spalding (161st, 21:24) and Noah Hoskins (248th, 24:49).

Braves 7th at invite

MARENGO

Brownstown Central scored 260 points to finish seventh of 22 teams at the Crawford County Invitational Saturday.

Noblesville won the invite with 27 points, Edgewood was runner-up at 74 and Forest Park claimed third (133).

Edgewood’s Annalyssa Crain was individual winner in 18-minutes, 36-seconds.

Destiny Satterthwaite was fastest for Brownstown on the day, running a 22:41 for 40th of 210 runners.

Claire Poulton ran a 23:39 for 56th, Shauna Drake timed 24:01 for 64th, Emma Winks clocked 24:07 to place 69th and Grace Garland finished in 24:10 for 72nd.

Crothersville’s Grace Wilson hit the finish in 21:46 for 24th and Piper Hensley placed 82nd in 24:31.
