BATON ROUGE, La. — A Louisiana man accused of shooting a friend that he had invited over for dinner has been arrested.
News outlets report 59-year-old Darioush Haghighi was arrested Sunday and charged with illegal use of a weapon and attempted second-degree murder in the shooting of the 63-year-old man.
Authorities say Haghighi invited the victim to his residence for dinner Sunday. Baton Rouge police spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola says several gunshots were heard outside the residence shortly after the man arrived.
The man was found in the driveway with an apparent gunshot wound and witnesses later told police that Haghighi placed a gun in a trash bin near the driveway.
The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. It’s unclear if Haghighi has a lawyer.
