Library board OKs operating budget

The Jackson County Public Library board of trustees conducted a public hearing on the 2018 budget during its regular meeting Monday at the Seymour Library.

The proposed 2018 operating fund budget is $2,373,286.

During the regular meeting, trustees approved a resolution to reduce the 2017 budget by $259,553. They also approved staff changes, an after-hours teen lock-in for Grades 6 through 12 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 20 and a revision to the programs policy.

Head of youth services Lola Snyder gave a report on the summer reading program and her department at the Seymour Library.

The board’s next meeting, which includes adoption of the 2018 budget, will be at 5 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St.
